Overview

The Foundation Course in Management programme is designed for students who aspire to develop essential business skills before entering the corporate world.  This course seeks to prepare students for progression into Educare Academy’s Diploma in Business Management course.  

Modules

This module allows students to understand the nature and significance of the basic accounting principles and concepts together with the application of these accounting principles and their relevance to their personal and professional financial decision-making. Students will also understand the role of accounting information, various categories of accounts, the difference between capital and revenue expenditure, and financial ratio analysis.

This module explains the concepts and use of equations, formulae and mathematical expressions and relationships in various contexts. Students can expect to apply, analyse and demonstrate their knowledge of mathematical skills in intensive areas such as Economics and Business.

This module allows students to learn and demonstrate the basic understanding of business and economic concepts, business ownership, entrepreneurship, franchising and all the other components involved to develop a business plan.

Intercultural Communication is the key to dealing with people and situations across cultures and is especially important within the field of hospitality.

This module allows students to better understand cross-cultural complexity and develop an awareness of their own and others’ cultural identities by highlighting notable variations in communication styles and cultural values.

This will help students build an intercultural competence both in their personal and professional spheres.

This module enables students to gain essential knowledge and understanding of various study skills that will unlock their learning potential and empower them to gradually improve in their academic work. This module also provides a foundation for students to practice their reading and writing skills in schools and beyond.

This module introduces students to the hospitality and tourism industry, including the development of the tourism and hospitality industries, structure and organisation of various types of operations, giving the student an awareness of the social and economic role, responsibilities and opportunities in hospitality and tourism.

The module also provides an overview of the departmental and overall management functions within hospitality in both revenue and non-revenue related departments. Field trips to a range of tourism and hospitality sites support the learning of this module.

*GST will be 8% from 1st January 2023 and subsequently 8% to 9% from 1st January 2024. The applicable total amount payable will be charged accordingly.

Entry Requirements

Age Requirements: At least 16 years old.

Academic Requirements: 1 x Pass in GCE ‘O’ levels, NITEC/ Higher NITEC certification, or Year 10 High School or equivalent.

Language Proficiency: Minimum of Band 5.0 IELTS; or Pass Educare Global Academy English Placement Test; or Letter from College/University clearly stating the Medium of Instruction of the highest qualification to be English; or C6 pass in English GCE ‘O’ level; or equivalent.

Mode of Delivery

Mode of Delivery: The Foundation Course in Management programme consists of a total of 6 modules and may be completed in 8 months. The mode of delivery is face-to-face and e-learning with a total contact of 312 hours for all modules in the programme. It is scheduled weekly for 5 days and for a maximum of 5 hours per day.

Assessment Method: Written Exams and Final Projects.

Graduation Requirements: 50%

Duration: 8 months

Lecturer – Student Ratio: 1:30

Graduation

Upon the successful completion, students will be awarded the Foundation Course in Management from Educare Global Academy. Foundation Course graduates can continue on to the Diploma in Business Management.
