Advanced Diploma In Logistics And Supply Chain Management

The Advanced Diploma in Logistics and Supply Chain Management is designed to deepen the expertise of individuals in the dynamic field of supply chain and logistics.

The program offers an in-depth exploration into the intricacies of operations, strategic alignment, and the integration of technology. By emphasizing both traditional and emergent areas of the discipline, including platform business models and artificial intelligence, the program ensures graduates are equipped to drive innovation and excellence in a digitally-transformed, global logistics environment.

This module intends to provide a general management perspective of the role of operations in organisations operating within both manufacturing and service industries. Participants will be exposed to the concepts and techniques involved in designing and managing operations to build the competitive advantage of the organisation and deliver customer satisfaction.

This module aims to help students develop an understanding of how organisations arrive at strategies for competitive advantage and how they address issues relating to firm growth and development. The module takes a holistic view of the strategic management process and explores key concepts, theories, frameworks, and issues of relevance to each of its dimensions (i) strategic analysis, (ii) strategic formulation, and (iii) strategic implementation.

In this module, students will be introduced to project management theory, terms, and concepts. They will learn about the project life cycle and how to build a successful project from pre-implementation to completion. Project management topics such as resources, costs, time constraints and project scopes will also be covered.

Procurement is the business function that ensures identification, sourcing, access and management of external resources that an organisation needs or may need to successfully fulfil its strategic objectives. It exists to explore supply market opportunities and to implement resourcing strategies that deliver the best possible supply outcomes to the organisation, its stakeholders, and customers. This module will explore the application of procurement and supply concepts and ideas within the logistics and supply chain environments.

This module aims to provide students with both theoretical and practical understandings of the applications of transportation and distribution management in the local context. It will also investigate the management of transport logistics

A platform business connects members of communities and enables them to transact. This business model is distinctive from that of traditional organizations, as it does not involve the use of linear value chains, to buy and transform raw materials into products or services to sell them at a profit. This module provides a strategic perspective to understanding platform business models. In contrast to traditional pipeline businesses, platform business models need different treatment, both in terms of strategies and operations. The module will also examine the characteristic of the platform business model as well as the challenges that traditional companies face with platform competition and discuss their strategic options.

This module explores the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in supply chain management (SCM) to improve logistics processes, enhance decision-making, and increase competitiveness. AI offers logistics companies the ability to optimise network orchestration to degrees of efficiency that cannot be achieved with human thinking alone. AI can help the logistics industry to redefine today’s behaviors and practices.

The legal aspects of logistics have become increasingly important due to the regulation of intermediaries, multimodal shipping, and hazardous materials laws and regulations. This module aims to provide students with knowledge of the key areas of law as applied to inventory and logistics management. This module covers the legal issues related to the movement of goods across international borders. It will also include topics such as carrier laws, liabilities of carriers, principles of contract law for transportation, cargo insurance, importing and exporting, and international laws and treaties.
